Chelsea have reportedly decided the cede their pursuit of 22-year-old Sevilla

Chelsea have apparently opted to abandon their pursuit of Sevilla defender Jules Kounde, who is 22 years old, with Thomas Tuchel prepared to move on. Fichajes has published an interesting update on Chelsea's pursuit of Jules Kounde. During the summer transfer window, the Sevilla centre-back was on the verge of a move to Stamford Bridge. However, the deal fell through at the last minute, leaving the Blues' camp in disarray.

Chelsea's interest in Kounde persisted long after the transfer window had closed. However, it looks that they are ready to let go of the 22-year-old French international, with head coach Thomas Tuchel confident in the quality of his present defence. In the early stages of the campaign, Malang Sarr and Trevoh Chalobah, in particular, have shown a lot of promise. Chalobah had already made his Chelsea debut earlier this season, while Sarr made a strong first impression against Brentford last weekend.

Rudiger's contract expires at the end of the season, while Azpilicueta and Silva are nearing the conclusion of their individual careers. Meanwhile, Rudiger is said to be upset with Chelsea's refusal to meet his requests for a new contract. Even league rivals Manchester City are interested in signing the German international, who is expected to leave the club at the end of the season. Chelsea's pursuit of Kounde was motivated by the uncertainty surrounding Rudiger's future and the belief that the 22-year-old French international may be a long-term alternative.
