The reason Mason Mount was booed at Stamford Bridge in Chelsea's Carabao Cup win vs Southampton

Mason Mount had a quieter night on Tuesday following his hat-trick heroics for Chelsea against Norwich on Saturday, and he was booed by Southampton fans during the Carabao Cup win. Kai Havertz gave the hosts the lead in the closing minute of the first half, and the midfielder came off the bench for this one.

But the lead was short-lived, with Che Adams capitalising on a Kepa Arrizabalaga blunder to equalise just two minutes after the restart.

Mount was introduced as Chelsea sought for a winner, but the game would end in a penalty shootout. Mount was the only Blues player to miss out, although the hosts won thanks to Kepa's stop from Theo Walcott and a skied Will Smallbone effort.
