Rio Ferdinand slams Erik ten Hag’s Man United team as he discloses Why Ronaldo is out of favour
Rio Ferdinand, a former player for Manchester United, has outlined the reasons why Erik ten Hag's club does not value Cristiano Ronaldo.
For the third time this year, the 37-year-old has taken a starting position on the bench. He didn't come in until halfway through the second stanza of Saturday's 1-0 victory over Southampton.
Ferdinand responded that it was obvious that the new manager was trying to put his own unique stamp on his United team when asked if he understood why the five-time Ballon d'Or winner was currently out of favor.
"I simply believe that's how he perceives it. You have to keep in mind that when they played in preseason, they appeared quite loose; but, once the season has begun, they haven't appeared to be as loose.
"He's searching for the correct formula, and as a manager, you have to look at what works for you as he found with the center-half combination, and you have to do that in the forward area as well," said the manager.
